Privacy policy
Last updated: May 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how System 595 Inc. and its affiliates ("System 595," "SpineSystem," "System 5/95," "we," "us," or "our") collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process information that relates to you. It applies to personal information we collect both online and offline, including when you visit japansystem595.com, use any application or service that links to this Privacy Policy, or otherwise communicate with us (collectively, the "Services"). Our online store is hosted by Shopify. This Privacy Policy is intended to be read together with our Terms of Service and is designed to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA"), and other applicable U.S. state privacy laws. It also serves as our notice at collection for California residents.
By using the Services or providing us with your personal information, you agree to the information-handling practices described in this Privacy Policy, and you confirm that, where you provide personal information about another person, you have that person's permission to do so. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Service, please do not access or use the Services.
If you have any questions or comments about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us at customer@system595.jp.
1. Information We Collect
The sections below explain the categories of personal information we collect and process, the sources of that information, and our reasons for processing it. "Personal information" is information that identifies, relates to, or can reasonably be linked to you. The categories we collect depend on how you interact with us and our Services and on the requirements of applicable law.
1.1 Personal information you provide
We collect information you provide directly, for example when you create an account, place an order, submit a product review, sign up for our email or text messages, or contact us. We may collect the following categories, including in the last twelve (12) months:
- Basic identifying information — your name, shipping and billing address, email address, phone number, and contact preferences.
- Payment information — payment type, payment card number and expiration date, and related billing details. Card details are handled by our payment processors (see Section 4.5); we do not store full card numbers on our own systems.
- Account and commercial information — account credentials and settings, products you have purchased, returned, exchanged, or considered, items in your cart or saved for later, order history, product reviews, and communication preferences.
- Customer records — paper and electronic records that contain personal information such as your name, address, and telephone number.
- Communications — the information you include when you contact us for customer support, by email, through the website, or via social media. If you use any chat feature, we may keep a record of the conversation for service and quality purposes.
- Preferences and feedback — your stated interests, the products you own, and feedback on product satisfaction, performance, and your experience with the Services.
- Any other information you choose to provide, which we will use as described in this Privacy Policy or as disclosed when you provide it.
Sensitive personal information. Some information we process (for example, a financial account or payment card number together with any required security or access code) may be treated as "sensitive personal information" under certain U.S. state laws. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we do not "sell" it.
Personal information does not include publicly available information from government records, or de-identified or aggregated information that cannot reasonably be linked to you.
1.2 Information collected automatically
A. Cookies. Like most websites, we and our service providers (including Shopify) use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to collect information about your device and how you use the Services — for example, your IP address, browser type and language, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, links clicked, and whether you opened an email. This helps us operate the store, remember whether you are signed in, keep items in your cart, recognize abandoned carts, personalize your experience, and provide technical support. If you block or delete cookies, parts of the Services may not work properly.
B. Pixels and web beacons. We may use pixels (also called web beacons) — tiny graphics with a unique identifier embedded in web pages or emails — to record certain technical information about how you interact with the Services, to help deliver cookies, to count visitors, and to measure whether you open or act on our emails. This helps us promote the Services and optimize advertising shown on third-party websites.
1.3 Information from other sources
We may receive information about you from third parties, such as advertising and analytics networks, payment processors, product vendors, social media platforms, and publicly available sources. We may combine this with information we collect from you to improve its accuracy and to better tailor our communications and the Services.
1.4 Location information
We collect the shipping and billing addresses you provide when you set up an account or place an order. We also infer your approximate location (for example, your state) from your IP address to understand how the Services are used and to tailor relevant parts of your experience to your region. We do not collect precise GPS location through the Services.
1.5 User contributions
You may submit content that is displayed publicly or shared with others — for example, product reviews or posts on social media features connected to the Services ("User Contributions"). User Contributions are posted at your own risk; we cannot control how other users or third parties use information you choose to make public, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized persons will not view it.
1.6 Social media
If you interact with us on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or YouTube, we may collect the information you make available there (depending on your settings), and your account name or handle may be visible to others when we respond to you. Social media platforms operate independently from us; we are not responsible for their interfaces or privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies and settings.
2. Third-Party Analytics Providers
We use analytics providers such as Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to understand how the Services are used — for example, which pages visitors view and the time they spend, browser and device type, general location, and similar information. These providers use cookies and may recognize your device across websites. For more information and to opt out:
Google — see the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Meta / Facebook — review the Meta Privacy Policy and adjust your Meta ad preferences.
You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative.
3. External Links
The Services may contain links to third-party websites and services, including social media. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, features, or privacy practices of those sites. Any information you provide on a linked site is governed by that third party's own privacy policy and terms, so we encourage you to review them.
4. How We Use Your Information
4.1 General
Unless we have your consent or applicable law allows or requires otherwise, we use the personal information we collect for the following business purposes:
- To fulfill the reason you provided the information — for example, to process and ship your orders, handle returns and exchanges, and manage your account.
- To provide features and functionality of the Services and to personalize your experience.
- For marketing and promotions, including to send you email and (where you opt in) text-message communications about our products, offers, and events, and to run surveys, contests, or sweepstakes.
- To advertise to you and personalize the ads you see on the Services and on other websites and social media.
- To provide customer support, respond to your inquiries, and improve our responses.
- To monitor, analyze, and improve the Services, and for testing, research, and product development.
- To maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the Services, and to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and illegal activity.
- To make inferences about your preferences and interests in order to recommend relevant products.
- To comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms and policies, and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
- To evaluate or carry out a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, including in bankruptcy, where personal information may be among the assets transferred.
4.2 Account-related emails
When you create an account or provide your email, we may, subject to applicable law, use it to send Services-related notices (including notices required by law), updates, news, and marketing messages. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe link or instructions, and you can also update your preferences in your account settings. Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we may still send you transactional messages about your account or orders.
4.3 Advertising
We use third-party providers to serve advertisements and collect data on our behalf across the internet and on the Services ("Advertisers"). Advertisers may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to collect information — such as your IP address, device identifiers, and interactions — to tailor and measure advertising. Your browser settings may not let you control these technologies, and this Privacy Policy does not cover Advertisers' own practices. You can manage many of these uses through the opt-out tools listed in Sections 2 and 6.5.
4.4 Non-personally identifiable information
We may use de-identified or aggregated information — which does not identify any individual — for any purpose, such as improving and developing the Services, internal research, and security. If we ever combine de-identified information with personal information, we will treat the combined information as personal information.
4.5 Payment processors
Payments are handled by third-party processors shown at checkout, such as Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, and PayPal. If you choose to pay in installments (for example, four payments), that financing is provided by a third-party provider such as Shop Pay Installments, powered by Affirm. These providers have their own privacy policies and terms that apply to your transaction; please review them, including the Affirm Privacy Policy.
5. How We Share Personal Information
5.1 Categories of recipients
When we disclose personal information to a service provider for a business purpose, we require it by contract to keep the information confidential and use it only to perform the services. In the past twelve (12) months, we may have disclosed the categories of personal information described above to the following categories of recipients:
- Shopify and other vendors and service providers that support the Services (for example, hosting and IT, payment processing, analytics, customer support, fulfillment, and shipping).
- Advertising and marketing partners, social media platforms, and advertising networks, to deliver and measure marketing and to show you relevant ads on the Services and elsewhere.
- Analytics providers, to support site functionality and data-driven decisions.
- Payment processors and merchant partners, to complete your transactions.
- Our affiliates and companies within our corporate group.
- Third parties when you direct or consent to the disclosure, such as through social media or login integrations.
- Courts, law enforcement, regulators, and other parties where we believe it is necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and property.
- A successor entity in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets (including in bankruptcy).
We do not disclose your personal information in exchange for money. In addition, we do not share text-message (SMS) opt-in information or consent with any third parties for their own marketing.
5.2 Legal requirements
We may disclose information collected through the Services — internally, to affiliates, or to third parties — for any lawful purpose or to prevent harm to us or others, including to government regulators or law enforcement. Where permitted, we will notify you of a government or legal request for your information unless prohibited by law.
5.3 Organizational transitions
If we transfer or restructure ownership of the Services — for example, through a merger or reorganization — we may disclose or transfer your information to the prospective or actual acquiring entity, which we will require to provide a level of privacy protection consistent with this Privacy Policy.
5.4 Disclaimer
We cannot ensure that your personal information will only ever be disclosed in the ways described here. For example, third parties may unlawfully intercept transmissions, or other users may misuse information they collect. Even with rigorous security standards, no transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
6. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have some or all of the rights below. These rights are not absolute, may apply only in certain circumstances, and we may decline a request where permitted by law.
6.1 You may decline to provide information
You can always decline to provide personal information. An account is not required to browse much of our content, and you may choose not to provide optional information — though some features (for example, our newsletter) may not be available if you do.
6.2 Right to access and data portability
You may request access to and details about the personal information we hold about you and how we process it, and you may request a copy in a portable format. Upon a verifiable request, we will disclose the categories of personal information we collected, the sources, our business purposes, the categories of recipients, and (where applicable) the specific pieces of personal information.
6.3 Right to delete
You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to exceptions. We may retain information where it is necessary to complete a transaction or provide a service you requested, to detect or prevent security incidents or fraud, to debug, to comply with a legal obligation, or for other internal uses permitted by law.
6.4 Right to correct
You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
6.5 Right to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising
Sharing your information with advertising partners for targeted advertising may be considered a "sale," "sharing," or "targeted advertising" under certain U.S. state laws, even though we do not exchange your information for money. You may opt out through our Your Privacy Choices page. If you visit our website with the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal enabled, we will, where required, treat it as a request to opt out for that browser and device. To learn more about GPC, visit globalprivacycontrol.org.
6.6 Exercising your rights
To exercise your access, deletion, or correction rights, contact us at customer@system595.jp. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we will require written, signed permission and may also need to verify your identity directly. We must be able to verify your identity before we respond, and we will respond within the time required by law. We do not charge a fee unless a request is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. Where your state provides an appeal right, you may appeal a decision by contacting us; if your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.
6.7 Non-discrimination and financial incentives
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights — for example, by denying goods or services, charging different prices, or providing a different level or quality of service — except as permitted by law. We may offer financial incentives permitted by law (for example, exclusive deals for email sign-up). Participation is voluntary, requires your prior opt-in, may be revoked at any time, and any incentive is reasonably related to the value of the personal information involved.
6.8 Online tracking choices
Most browsers accept cookies by default, but you can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when one is sent; some features may not work if you do. Browser "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals are not yet uniform, and like many operators we do not respond to DNT signals. We do, however, honor the Global Privacy Control signal as described in Section 6.5.
7. Accessing and Updating Your Information
We encourage you to access, review, and update your personal information at any time through your account settings. For help accessing, correcting, or deleting your information, or to close your account, contact us at customer@system595.jp. We will respond after verifying your authority to make the request, subject to Section 6.
8. Security and Retention
8.1 Security
We use physical, managerial, and technical safeguards designed to protect the information we maintain, including encryption in transit (such as SSL/TLS). No safeguard is perfect, however, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed. You should protect access to your password and devices — for example, by signing off after using a shared device and keeping your credentials private. We are not responsible for activity resulting from unauthorized use of your credentials. If personal information under our control is compromised in a security breach, we will take reasonable steps to investigate and will notify you as appropriate and as required by law.
8.2 Storage and retention
We (or our hosting providers) store personal information in environments protected by physical and technical safeguards. How long we retain personal information depends on factors such as whether we need it to maintain your account, provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
9. Notice to Users Outside the United States
We are based in the United States, and the Services are intended for users located in the United States and governed by U.S. law. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those of your country. Our service providers, including Shopify, may also process information in other countries to provide the Services.
10. Children's Privacy
The Services are not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly "sell" or "share" the personal information of individuals under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it. If you are a California resident under 18 and cannot remove content you posted, you may request removal by contacting us, subject to the limits allowed by California law.
11. California "Shine the Light"
California Civil Code § 1798.83 lets California residents request, once a year and free of charge, a list of the third parties to whom we disclosed personal information for their direct-marketing purposes in the prior calendar year. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing. To make a request, email us at customer@system595.jp with "California Privacy Rights" in the subject line.
12. Relationship with Shopify
Our store is hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your use of the Services in order to provide and improve them, and which may use certain enhanced features that combine data across merchants and with Shopify. In those circumstances Shopify is responsible for its processing, including responding to requests about it. To learn more, see the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy, and, depending on where you live, exercise certain rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on the Services and update the "Last updated" date above. If we make changes that materially affect how we handle personal information we previously collected, we will provide notice as required by law. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Privacy Policy to the extent permitted by law.
